This is from last Friday afternoon (the date says Thursday, but the Reuters timestamp was Friday at 1:10pm). Looks like just a repeat of Thursday's comments from Dabney/Resnick. Again, I'd like to know if these analysts are just reading the 3rd quarter 10Q, or if they know something that we (I) don't.

---------------- REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Nov 21 (Reuter) - Ampex Corp shares was most active traded stock on the American Stock Exchange on Friday, on speculation the company would receive an order for its Keepered Media product this year, an analyst said.
But Ampex said it had issued no news which would account for the increased trading activity in its shares.
Steve Ossad, an analyst at Genesis Merchant Securities, said there was growing belief that Ampex would receive a first purchase order for Keepered Media from a major disk drive supplier before year-end.
On Wednesday Dabney Resnick analyst Eric Appell reiterated his strong buy on Ampex for that reason, and the shares rose 2-3/8 to 9-1/2. Keepered Media is a technology for disks which go into disk drives, Appell said.
Ampex shares were trading at 10-1/8, up 5/8, on Friday on volume of 1.46 million shares.
Ampex reiterated that it could not comment on future orders. |
