Bwaak bwaak bwaak bwaak. I'm a chicken, I know.

I wouldn't call it being chicken, but being prudent. As an IT professional, I would never consider upgrading my or any client's computers without first reading about the experiences of all the "retail beta testers." I'm glad there are people willing to jump in and take the plunge, but it's something I can ill afford to do in a work environment where people expect their computers to work. Otherwise I get yelled at.

Or at least I wait for some time before to see it there are problems with the upgrades. Apple has gotten worse in this area.

I believe all computer companies have. As competition has gotten tougher and companies have had to cut costs, that comes out of QA too. For an OS upgrade, It also has to do with the complexity of today's operating systems. We're a long way from System 6 and Windows 3.1. It just isn't possible anymore to test complex OS software thoroughly before it's released, there are too many combinations and permutations of hardware/software.

Could Apple do a better job with QA? Probably. Are they likely to? I doubt it.
