Freshman and Blue Dogs are going to be key in defeating the bill as it is. They will also be key in contributing to how it is rewritten. I believe they understand they are vulnerable in the upcoming elections, which are a little over a year away.

More than anybody, seniors understand the threat of this bill on many levels. They take the time to get informed and understand the implications. Typically, more seniors turn out to vote in the off-year elections. The Obama generation is making a mistake dismissing them and calling them names.

I have friends who never got involved in politics and it was never a topic of conversation when we got together. Now it's all they talk about. We have to agree not to bring the subject up - we all agree with each other so all it does is end up making us mad and ruin our get-togethers.

I belong to a Navy Yacht club with over 300 members. We used to talk about boating. Now it's this bill and Obama. They've linked up with the other yacht clubs and have emails going around every day encouraging members to call congress every day and to attend the town hall meetings.

Howard Dean makes a mistake thinking seniors as a group are going away and have no power.
