Gore is uniquely qualified to unite the Dem party in case Dean gets ahead and splits it into two. Dean may become the frontrunner with only about 25% of the party behind him. If Kerry, Gephardt and Clark only have about 15% each they can't really make the argument that they should be annointed. Therefore, the only man who would have no problem claiming the crown would be Gore. Even Deanies would have to agree he deserves it more than Dean.
Gore could beat Bush too. That's the key.
