I think most people think these things are going to play out like the movies, and the government is going to swoop in, cordon off the outbreak, and have tons of supplies to miraculously save us all from disaster. Like having tens of thousands of ventilators stashed away for the end of the world.

People are mad because reality does not match their fantasies. Some people will learn, others will choose to continue believing their fantasies.
