Don't kid yourself. This practice has been done for years and most of these market makers will pull our chain any way they can. What they do is strategically release negative info on a stock after they clear their positions, thus driving the stock downward. This is why the value of a stock stair steps up, establishing new "floors" as its perceived viability grows, however, their are always minor recoils along the way. The market makers predict, anticitipate and play this price flutter.
