There really needs to be a meeting of minds on this. The Right has to understand that abortions are going to occur, and about all that can be done is to keep them from happening late in the pregnancy. That is a bitter pill for those believe life begins at conception. But it is reality. OTOH, as technology improves, it becomes more and more difficult for rational people to justify abortions late in the term

This is exactly how I feel. I think abortions should be be allowed up to and including the 18th week . Few if any fetuses could survive before that point. It's a compromise. The left will resist all attempts to limit abortion at any point for fear that some limitation would ultimately lead to something like I suggest or even a total ban. This is very similar to gun right activists resisting any more
restrictions on 2nd amendment rights. They feel it will lead to expensive, time consuming, meant to obstruct and limit, restrictions and ultimately to confiscation.
