I'm an engineer, and like virtually every other engineer I know, Microsoft is viewed with great disgust. It has nothing to do with jealosy, whatsoever. I could care less how much money Bill makes. It's the fact that the more control he gets over the industry, the more time I seem to spend trying to solve problems with operating systems which are supposed to be better and improved. I thought Win 3.1 was bad. I had no idea how much time I could waste until I started using 95 and NT. And the only reason I have to use these products is because I have to remain compatible with the rest of the world, which is comprised of a bunch of other people in the same situation I'm in.

I think that every day we get closer to the industry as a whole saying enough is enough, and we see how far Java can take us. Java is just the first step. We have to stop letting Microstuff walk all over us.
