I have accepted a position at Silicon Video Corporation (SVC). Just this morning, we closed the deal. Once I graduate, I will go to work for Silicon Video in San Jose. SVC makes field emission displays based on conventional CRT phosphors, and a proprietary electron emitting cathode design. The company plans to mass produce 5" displays in 1997 and 12" in 1998. An IPO is likely to take place in 1997. Previous private offerings have been extremely successful. I have retained all rights to my previous inventions, and will not be restricted from marketing or developing those on my own time. As an "insider" I will now be somewhat more restricted in what I can say, but I will continue to post interesting news on FPDs here, so long as it comes from public sources. I hope the rest of you will also continue to share information on this rapidly expanding field. -bob mackey
