I completely agree with everything you said, Mad2. I think for people that don't need to be too concerned about shutter lag, the Sony F707 is presently the most camera for the least money. One more thing about it that's fantastic: it can shoot in absolute darkness. And I mean absolute. I toyed with one in my darkroom, and you can't get any darker than that, not a light leak to be found there, I made sure of that years ago. The shots in pitch black darkness come out greenish b&w's, but hey, beats nothing by a million miles! The Sony can not only make pictures in pitch blackness, it can focus in it as well. Pure magic!

About the 1-D, love your analogy: "Hmm, like a new vette vs. a 63-67 vintage. The old ones are charming and bring back lots of memory, but the new ones plain kick butt and are a real pleasure to drive."

Pretty much sums it up, alright!
