If ISO options are exercised and Alt min tax is triggered as a result, could it be argued that the interest on the money sent to the IRS as a result, if borrowed by margining the stock purchased, is deductible.

Since the tax became due as a result of the transaction, it is, in actuality, a cost of taking the position. The IRS probably doesn't see it that way ...
