The prices of all that "made in China" stuff like small electrical products in stores in China is the same or higher than in Australia from my observations in Tianjin and Beijing. What's cheap in China is food, rent or apartment prices, medicine (e.g. glasses, dental service), public transport (and taxis), and some clothes (but some clothes in some department stores were more expensive than equivalents in Australia).
