I don't think so either. In my opinion, Intel will cut them a deal that AMD can't match. If SUN goes with AMD it will be because McNealy just doesn't want Intel.

Sun has has a lot of reasons not to do anything that would help Intel, since Intel is in the biggest competitor of Sun, probably more serious than IBM.

On the other hand, if Sun does go with AMD, it will be positive, but Sun name is not what it used to be just 2 years ago.

I don't know how many units it would involve, probably not many. The benefit for AMD would be mainly the endorsement, and if dual system is involved, it would be a very significant endorsement, even somewhat diminished effect of Sun name.
