Simba, the article was dated but the S&P figures are correct I have a recent Barron's and the numbers seem to be in line -see Market Laboratory section . I don't know the methodology IBES uses to get those numbers but I suspect they are operating numbers - ignoring all the recurring nonrecurring charges and interest expense . In short bullish spin. Bottom line it depends on what you mean by earnings. Can anyone clarify ? Its getting to the point where you can report whatever earnings you want! ho ho ho Mike
