An active system that moved through BC yesterday generated thousands of lightning strikes. The most immediate effect was a power outage affecting more than 50k households across a large swath of central BC. Pretty well everyone has the power back by now, a good thing, as extended power outages can be very hard on those living in rural areas.

Now we wait to see if there was enough rain accompanying the lightning to keep it from starting too many new wildfires.
