Yes- this is all I am trying to say.

I would NEVER say this should be used for legal mitigation- because punishment is a deterrent and obviously is factored in by abusers.

But insidiously a non-related male may "discipline" a child harder than he would have disciplined his own child. He might do this completely unconsciously. He might fly into a rage that SEEMED justified but in reality was stoked by his own biological desire to rid the home of a competing male's progeny. Men- as providers- will be evolved to provide for their OWN offspring- if they raise the offspring of other males they are wasting their resources and not advancing their own genes.

Of course we could ALL wish it were not so- but then we would be wishing ourselves out of existence- because we ARE our evolution. If you KNOW yourself, and you try to KNOW the disposition of others, you can be more careful. WHY would that be a bad thing?

BTW- I think the issue of post partum depression is apt. What do you think Cobalt?
