Other key points from conference call:

1) "Bulk of existing customers are very active in the new GX/DX products.

2) Key design wins in a number of European OEMs...and a number of design wins in general they are not ready to announce yet.

3) Overseas "demand rising and very strong acceptance of S3d"

4) Long term gross margin model moved up to 42% +/- 1%

5) Operating expenses for Q1 will grow slower than revenue.

6) Q1 revenue growth 5% +/- 2%

7) They are already putting the 20 million investment money to work in small company called Intervista which is "developing key internet technology to bring 3D to the web."

8) audio design wins should be announce in Q2 with ramping up of shipments towards end of the year.

9) They intend to increase their laptop share of the market to app. 15% from 5% this year. (Ballpark estimates on their part)

10) "Virge technolgy will be leveraged into new laptop products to be announced in Q2" ... a supposed "innovative way" (mentioned a couple times) combining DRAM technology in mobile computers. Nothing more known..they advised to look for new product announcements.

11) Mentioned Communications product but indicated it would not be announced until sometime during the second quarter. (Boy, second quarter sounds busy)

This is all I could really decipher from my notes, I was writing so quickly. hope it helps those who didn't hear it. Intel was only mentioned in two aspects. First, as one of S3's biggest customers and secondly in response to a question as to the role MMX will play in threatening market share for S3. It was squashed very well when Gary said that there was a misconception about the MMX and then went on to explain that it needs an accelerator and can basically do word processing and spreadsheets by itself.
