Netro Qualifies MTI for Next Major Manufacturing Milestone; Qualification Expands MTI's Direct Shipment Capabilities to Netro Customers

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 2000--Netro, the leader in broadband wireless access solutions, has expanded the turnkey supplier capabilities of Microelectronics Technology Inc. of Taiwan (MTI) to include Netro's outdoor subscriber and hub units at the 26 GHz frequency band. Netro had previously granted the same status to MTI for Netro's 10 GHz product components. This new MTI milestone certification by Netro further expands MTI's manufacturing capacity to meet the growing demand for Netro's AirStar(TM) technology.

Under the terms of the agreement between MTI and Netro, Netro continues to be the exclusive customer of MTI for point-to-multipoint radio terrestrial systems. Both companies will continue to work on ramping up additional manufacturing capabilities as MTI prepares for large scale production of Netro components.
MTI, a Taiwan-based company, is well known for its ability to cost-effectively produce radios in a large quantity. MTI currently produces over 5,000 radio units per month and approximately 500,000 LNBs per month.
