I have no idea how these people have guts to recommend anything as a buy in this market, but what the heck.

Merrill Lynch analyst Christopher Shilakes reiterated his 'buy' rating on Microsoft (MSFT) shares ahead of the company's fourth quarter and fiscal year end earnings report due Thursday. He expects the software giant to report 42 cents of Q4 earnings, on slightly more than $7 billion revenue. Microsoft should trade at $60 to $65 within 12 months Shilakes said; adding that near term valuation depends more on Microsoft's 2003 outlook than on 2002 earnings. Shilakes expects desktop applications to show modest growth, while he's looking for about 3 percent growth in enterprise software business. Announced X-Box price cuts should be offset by a pickup in volumes, he concluded. >>
