-50% of the market that cpq is going after with the sub 800 pc
-is a lower income section that deosn't have a pc and doens't -internet.so, cpq isn't expecting sales of those thru internet.

Also many buy it as a second computer for their homes. This sub 800 computers are more than sufficient to replace 386 and 486 on secretaries' and clerks' desks in offices. People that make purchase decisions do have income and internet access. And anyway it doesn't cost anything to have it on CPQ Web site. It is not like advertizing on CNN at prime time.
I don't know the answer, may be CPQ doesn't want to irrate retailers ...for now.
