SVIN, got some coverage in the S.F. Chronicle today. Mostly a fluff piece, but generally positive, mentioning a positive analyst rating, and stating that while wine consumption is not growing, that premium and near-premium wine consumption is growing considerably, and that SVIN provides grapes for this segment.

I have meant to look into SVIN more, but still have not had the time. But it occurs to me possible that they might actually be good businessmen in this field. If so, like Wal-Mart, they could find good possibilities ahead. The problem with even public wine companies is that they are so inefficient. Take Chalone for instance. They bored into a mountain to make their cellars. But the mountain was volcanic, so hot. So now they air condition their cellar in the mountain. Go figure. I think I would like a wine company where the people who manage it don't even drink wine, maybe, and have no snobbish interest in it, but only want to make money.
