Not a bad idea, Sam (your name brings a chuckle...I was just reading "Green Eggs and Ham" to my 3-year old!..."Sam I am"...). We have a nice little "community" here (the "best kept secret on SI"), and it would be interesting to know more about our fellow posters.
About me: I'm a Philosopher of Religion by profession and avocation, so spend most of my waking moments considering the existence of God, the meaning of life, life after death, etc. I teach a popular class on Death and Dying (have written a textbook for the course), which keeps me ever mindful of the bigger issues in life.
My passion, however, as it has been since I was 12 and was first introduced by my unlucky-investor father (who lost a small fortune in Sumitumo Bank) to the mysterious stock tables in the business section of our local paper (Santa Cruz, CA), is the stock market.
My Scottish wife and I have the one daughter, who is the absolute joy of our existence. We live in exile from all forms of culture in northeast Ohio, but spend as much time as possible in the British Isles (I'll be there this summer on a research fellowship). I'm a grad of Princeton, Oxford and wonderful little University in Oregon called Willamette.
I have no real mundane pursuits, though I will admit, after too many glasses of wine, to an unusual fondness for jazz music.
