It is nasty in most parts of Canada right now, further catalysing the ongoing shift among the population from looking forward to summer toward fearing it, as revealed in several recent polls.

In southern BC we are subject to heat warnings, further exacerbating the ongoing drought and making it tough to put out the fires already burning, and the drought and fires continue in NE BC and into Yukon, NWT, and Alberta. Fires continue to rage in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, resulting in continued air quality warnings there and into Ontario and Quebec. The maritime provinces are having an unprecedented summer. The woods are closed in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and coming to New Brunswick, with many fires and evacuations across the area.

And a series of brutal storms are pummelling the US midwest, with areas of Wisconsin receiving up to 40cm of rain in one day, with major flooding in Milwaukee. The storms continue to wreak havoc as they move east.
