Clearly, you're right -- people just have no idea what the size and scope of this problem is and what it would take to make a sizable dent in it.

There are a lot of unknowns, the matter is complicated, and the advocates are oversimplifying so I can understand why so many people have such inapt perspectives. What I can't understand, though, is how ANYONE could possibly think that this will reduce the proportion of our GDP we spend on health care. That is daft.
