When I lived in NY city I found that many who lived there disliked it but were disinclined to move.
Let's just say there is massive social inertia which prevails against the institution of new political parties.

As true as that may be, the fault with their systems probably lies elsewhere. This is not to say that if choice is good, more choice is better. There must be a point of diminishing returns but who can say what that point may be.
