ZTE annouced on 2/9/01 that they made the first voice call successfully on their cdma2000 1x system. They are trying to show the migration from their IS-95 system to cdma2000 1x is indeed easy and smooth by only changing network cards and software. Rich answered the question on which version cdma China will use with a quick "cdma" yesterday. It seems to me that China Unicom wants to make a killing with cdma2000 1x to grab high-end users from China Mobile which they have unable to do so far. laodeng
