Thanks for restating the question, I guess I didn't really understand it when I read it before.

I believe what you propose would in fact work IF you knew whether the high (max) or the low (min) was the right one to use. Which is the right one depends on whether you are entering the trade Long or Short. I tried to recreate Wilder's method (you're ether long or short at any given time) and I just didn't know how to figure out which you would be based on previous price action without working my way up to the present day.

I try not to be too porocial about these things, but I do like to let the computer figure it out for me (their getting faster every day) rather then guessing, or risking any invalid modification to the original method...

.... you may recall I suggested that we add a few lines of code to fix the CCI divide by zero problem rather then arbitrarily adding a very small number to denominator. I suspect some think this is all too much techno babble, but let's not loose track of what the "T" in TA stands for.
