Re: Broadband Stats: Q1 HFC&DSL (Cox, Rogers, SBC)
Thread- And the HFC vs DSL battle continues...some more stats from a few major SPs for Q1 2000.
IMO, the DSL solution is pulling up faster than anticipated just a few months back. But when the MSOs roll out voice in mass, things could change quickly. Then when the telcos rollout TV(via VDSL) things could change again.
All nice scenarios for the equipment suppliers irregardless of who wins the broadband war. -MikeM(From Florida)

Telco DSL Subs
SBC Communications, America's largest local telephone company, announced it finished the first quarter with 201,000 DSL lines in service, a 75-percent increase since year-end 1999.
At the other end of the spectrum is Bell Atlantic. The RBOC said it finished Q1 with only 62,000 DSL lines in service and that the company will likely miss its year-end target of 500,000 lines by at least 20 percent. |
