It's how the big picture works out that matters. I never questioned that. I only questioned responding to the accomplishment with a bash. There's a commercial on TV where a girl calls her father on his cell from her cell and tells him she got an A in physics or some such. His reaction is to fuss at her about using minutes. "Yes, but" seems reasonable to me. "But" all by itself seems, er, immoderate.
