I don't "know" Sun's IR people -- I got their phone number off of Sun's Web page and called it, as you may do. They may also be reached via e-mail.

I don't understand how one can "overspend" in an IRA -- as you note, margin purchases are not allowed in one (as far as I know). Who (what?) is "fido" and what ability do they have to ask you to sell?

I don't think a firm date was given for the announcement of the new Java partner, although there was some indication that it would likely be Tuesday (yesterday).

If you bought more than you are comfortable with, you can sell some. It's as simple as that, IMHO.

I believe I read about MSFT letting go temps, but I thought they continued to hire -- do you have information otherwise? I'm not sure I would characterize Sun as "hiring like crazy." Headcount has gone up, though (partly through acquisitions), as I understand it.

My impression of the organizational changes is that they are a Good Thing.

JMHO, of course, and not investment advice.
