generally over the last four years MSFT has had a large market cap than GE. Only for short periods of time has GE had a larger market cap than MSFT during this period.

you are mistaken, you are not even close.... and four years? that is just plain in error..... GE has had the largest market cap for the longest period of time, with brief and few episodes where GE went down low enough for MSFT's to be higher for short periods of time.....

as a matter of fact, it was reported on the few times MSFT did have a higher market cap..... that's how unusual an event it was......

this chart doesn't have a four year setting, but you can still see the first time MSFT had a higher market cap, and the media made a big deal about it in about Dec of 1999, and it was widely reported.... it lasted for less than half a week.... and then there were a couple other times afterward which happened very recently..... but that was the first time.....
