Just returned from seeing Batman.

If you recall, the original movie with Michael Keaton was a light year, step change improvement from what many of us remembered from the comic books or (even worse) the Adam West / Burt Ward television series (I remember going to a neighbor's house to see it on their new color TV - both were something of a sensation at the time - Big Yuks (in both senses of the word)).

Michale Keaton's role brought the dark overtones to the setting and transformed the story into something that was probably much closer to the creators' idea.

This Batman is as transformative a step change as the first one - maybe more so. It's a very well made film and quite deftly weaves a series of subplots and nuances into the story, and it should take an Oscar.

I saw it in IMAX format and can strongly recommend it as a very good picture indeed. It's been at this theater over a month and the crowd was still a sellout. And I have not seen an audience leave a movie so impressed since the Deer Hunter came out years ago.

Regards to all
