...Sometimes it works and ...

I just listened to cnbc tell viewers that they are stating trailing p/e numbers. The reason is they can't believe any forecasts for forward earnings. One of the few times I've heard wisdom come from one of those f-channels.

Would you also agree, on ntap's forward estimates. Many here have been stating what ntap has given for guidance. When, if one pays close attention to last quarters conference call. NTAP is simply stating guidance that the analysts have already projected. The analysts were cutting forward growth in half last fall. They said ntap wouldn't come close to meeting estimates last quarter...they were very wrong. NTAP has given up giving guidance to an analyst community who has chosen to ignore ntap. Everytime, in that CC when stating any kind of guidance. They always ended it with "that's what the analysts say". And "we will meet those estimates". And the usual statement of possible error in forward guidance, which was repeated an unusually large amount of times.
I would agree with you that, as far as numbers, we have to rely on past numbers. There is way too much doom and gloom opinion, and great things going on with this company right now to depend on any estimates. We will have to wait till the end of this quarter to see how things have gone. Until then, we get to tolerate doom and gloom...
