Andreas,

Here is how Altavista Babelfish translated part of the document:

The Lower power version of the Athlon so far exclusively manufactures AMD for the Jetson. It concerns itself thereby around the older Thunderbird core with FSB200 and a core voltage lowered on 1.4 V, so that the typical capacity of 60 to 35 Watts shrinks. For Hitachi AMD under the name " Cool'n'Quet " manufactures a further Stromspar Athlon. This has the Palomino core, runs with 1.5 V of core voltage and is likewise indicated as a typical capacity of 35 Watts. To the current save uses it apart from the lower voltage a dynamic clock reduction, those in contrast to the PowerNow! the Notebook processors only the clock, not however the core voltage shifts down. AMD does not supply both versions at present to the retail trade.

If I understand it corectly, they are saying that the Fujitsu Siemens PC uses a low voltage version of Thunderbird, but another low power version of Athlon delivered to Hitachi uses Palomino core with (???) PowerNow.

Then they are saying something confusing about notebook versions of Palomino with PowerNow, where only the clock speed changes changes, not the voltage. I was under the impression that PowerNow in current notebooks does both, clock speed reduction and voltage reduction.

Andreas, is it any more clear in German version, because I am confused.

Joe

PS: They say that AMD does not supply this chips to retail buyers, which is stating the obvious. I wonder when will AMD start doing this. It has been about a year and 1/2 that AMD has had PowerNow, and didn't take advantage of it outside mobile area. What are they waiting for? I guess they are waiting for Intel to catch up.AMD's lead is evaporating as we speak.
