Most of these, including the 7 Dept of Energy systems just announced from Nvidia, simply look like partnerships with AI Cloud providers. The Gov is a tenant of the Cloud providers. This actually fits with my initial comment back when you were wondering about the next supercomputer contracts and I said, no point because the AI clusters are far bigger already. So this is just what has happened. The supercomputing landscape has now shifted from government funded one off systems to circularly financed Cloud cluster systems with the Gov buying time on them.
