He is saying that FASB 123's "fair value method" supersedes the "Treasury Stock method". I say that FASB 123's "fair value method" is a function of expensing options either on the income statement or in a footnote. It doesn't deal with the calculation of diluted share count.

lets get to brass tacs here..... is it your contention that FASB 123 or using any other "fair market value" method doesn't change a company's earnings report?

what is important here is why MSFT refuses to be a leader and expense options..... they will not bring this FASB rule 123 to their earnings reported to the street because they know that their Diluted earnings per share takes a huge hit..... not one penny not two pennies, but eventually 30%.....

if someone were to have more sense than Howe, they would realize that MSFT would be all over this if the hit really only turned out to be one penny or two.......

they won't jump all over this because they know exactly what would happen, where most investors do not.....

that is the point, that is the brass tacs......

my arguement is that about Two companies a day are switching the way they account for stock options, and eventually MSFT will be forced to.....

that is the point, that is the brass tacs...... if you really wanted people to know what is going on, tell us how MSFT is going to escape this avalanche....
