Correction: The Fortune article cited does mention Mattel, albeit
parenthetically. The 11 August 1997 issue of Business Week in
the "Up Front" section sports a tiny article about the Star Wars(SW)
prequel trilogy license hooplah. However, it is Mattel which is high-
lighted for its reported offer to Lucas of a 49% stake in a yet to
be formed Mattel SW subsidiary with $200 million upfront.

Mattel wants this license badly doubtless due to its lopsided reliance
on Barbie for more than half of its profits. If Barbie ever falters,
Mattel would likely be courting big trouble.

The BW article further reports that "Galoob and Hasbro... have
countered with offers of $200 million from each up front and up
to 20% royalties on sales."

Again, no mention of Playmates Toys.
