Encompass Selected by Global One to Design and Build Facilities for Its U.S. Network Infrastructure
HOUSTON, Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Encompass Services Corporation (NYSE: ESR - news), the premier facilities services company in the United States, today announced it has been selected by Global One -- the award-winning global provider of seamless IP, data and voice services -- to design and manage the build-out of the majority of its network access centers across the United States.

Encompass is a leader in the design, engineering, construction and maintenance of mission-critical facilities. As such, it will provide to Global One engineering and design services, as well as mechanical and electrical equipment for all Global One network sites, and construction management for a majority of the sites.

Joe Ivey, president and chief executive officer of Encompass, said, ``Our ability to offer a single-source solution for engineering, design and construction of Global One's nation-wide network build-out was key to the selection of Encompass. Our high-tech experience with other leading clients, coupled with the strength of our geographic coverage, gives Global One the resources it needs to execute its plans for rapid growth with confidence.''

``It is key for us to work on our U.S. facilities expansion with a company as experienced and capable as Encompass,'' said Michael Ahern, Global One's Executive Director of Real Estate. ``Speed-to-market and system reliability are key factors in enhancing our competitive position and maintaining the highest level of customer service. Encompass has a proven track record with similar projects, and we're confident they will help us to meet our expansion goals.''

Global One, a member of the France Telecom Group, was authorized last June by the FCC to operate as a facilities-based and resale carrier in the U.S. market. On September 26, France Telecom announced it would invest about US$200 million in a 15,000-mile, 28-city North American backbone transmission network which Global One will use to further enhance the global IP, data and voice services it provides to multinational customers. Global One will offer its full portfolio of services to U.S. customers over the network.
