Not much information is available on B.N.I. Bank Indonesia, but what little there is, must be considered as very discouraging. This source would seem to indicate that BNI is a state bank (as opposed to a private sector entity). Losses from bad debt/loans are staggering. While BNI's management is not specifically named in anything criminal (at least not that I have seen so far), the Indonesian banking system would appear to be rift with fraud and bad debt. I believe that were these banks (collectively speaking) in the USA, federal authorities would long ago have closed their doors and frozen their assets, as well as frozen the assets of the corrupt bank officers who own/run them.

Given this background information, a reasonable person must strongly question the true value of any backing from BNI that Dr. Fred Cruz may claim to have. I would strongly question that BNI has anything of value even remotely approaching the numbers suggested in the LVEN press releases.

Here is but one excerpt from a series of monthly reports on Indonesian banking.

infobank-online.com

The gloomy picture of the countrys banking industry can be seen in the profitability of the banks. Nationally speaking, banks suffered big losses. Their losses are the worst performance in the national banking history. Imagine, the countrys banking industry suffered a loss of Rp 166.41 trillion, although in the previous year of 1997, the banking industry made a profit of Rp 2.33 trillion. According to the InfoBank Research Bureau, the big contribution in such a big losses is the state banks combined losses. Three state banks, i.e. Bank BNI, Bank Rakyat Indonesiia (BRI), and Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), have contributed a loss of Rp 84.4 trillion, while four state banks which merged into Bank Mandiri is expected contributing a loss of about Rp 40 triillion.

To see the other reports, use the following URL. May of 1999 and July of 1997 have specific references to BNI.

The next two references are in a language foreign to me. Perhaps someone may recognize the language and know of someone else that can interpret any pertinent information as it relates to BNI. One would appear to be a profile and the other maybe a model, but I'm not really sure. Just an educated guess...
