Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Some people in politics are honest. Some may even be completely honest. The opposite is also true. Sure there has been corruption in government from the earliest days. History records corrupt regents to the Pharoes. Government greed and graft have been a feature since the earliest days. The idea of rewarding the most corrupt with the Presidency despite the knowledge of their corruption is new since 1992.
