Hi Guys,

I'm sure I've posted this years ago.

MTW used to be located in Manitowoc Wisconsin - a 25 milr drive from my place in Wisconsin and right on the Lake.

In the 2010 year they ventured into their largest ever crane size. It towered up in the Horizon just off Wisconsin 43.

Those two cranes were meant to be used in the construction of the cooling towers of nuclear plants.

About that time renewables and climate change gained monmentum and MTW had a loy of cash sitting there for several years.

I have a very close friend who attended a local trade school (LTC) as a sponsored welding apprentice. They specialized in welding techniques of steel that wer 3-4 inches wide plates.

There marketing goal was to have just one crane that could hold the entire rebar structure of the
cooling towers.

Not having to move the concrete forms apparently made that part of a nuclear plantrmuch less expensive.

Those two prototypes eventually were sold to a foreign buyer.

With nuclear now gaining acceptance, they may have a dynamic new model with all of the R&D having been expensed long ago.

FWIW

Bob
