I use Seagate's all the time. It creates a backup of my dual boot Linux/XP system and it works. I've used it to back up my IDE drive to a new SATA, and it worked also.

I may be recalling incorrectly, but you can download Seagate's with no problems. I think WD want's a serial number before downloading.
