CPQ still seems a bit on the high side relative to the P/E. They will need to beef up on the earnings per share. Next earnings release is coming up on April 16, 1998 and Zack's research rates them a "strong sell".

NYSE: (CPQ : $25 13/16) $39,080 million Market Cap at April 3, 1998 Ranks 55th in the Fortune 500 on Revenue & 59th on Profit. Employs 18,865. Trades at a 28% Premium PE Multiple of 25.6 X, vs. the 20.0 X average multiple at which the Computers SubIndustry is priced.

The chart looks like CPQ will continue to move sideways for a while longer. Who knows what will happen when the DOW reaches 9,000 this week. We may see an overall market pull back and consolidation. Hence, CPQ and all of the computer companies will stay low until the dust settles. April is a strange month with all that IRA money being pumped into the markets and then ...............wait and see!

Doug's 2-Line Chart shows CPQ is slowing down after this price bounce off the recent bottom. It may very well bottom again. PUT writers may want to cover.
