Taken from the document you pointed to:
<<Japan, Canada, and New York all enter(ed) Fiscal Year 2000 on April 1, 1999. Thus, the real deadline of 04/01/98 has already passed! >>

So, why no major disasters already? Please, believe me, I have a very open mind about Y2K problems. I don't know what will happen next year and I don't think anyone does. I would like to be as prepared as I can for the worst. However, if all the so-called "crucial dates" that have passed already haven't caused major problems, why will the ones in the future be so bad? I'm an optimist at heart, but please don't call me a PolyAnna.
