Regarding Realmagic and Sigma: Sigma has already announced that they will be changing their name. Their intention is to make the name change in conjunction with their announcement of their new killer application, the new application will apparently take Sigma into a new market. The problem (at least from my greedy perspective) is that nobody knows (accept for insiders) what this new killer application will be. Their is tons of speculation that the new company name will be REALMagic--named after Sigma's already existing REALmagic product line.

As far as Venus, US West, Microsoft, Hughes, Intertainer, Panasonic (Matsushita), AT&T, Philips, or whoever else....there are very few (if any) dots to connect which lead to obvious $$$$ making contracts. There are simply a lot of partnerships (if that in some of the above cases). However, the potential is humungo.

Here is Dow Jones alert regarding Sigma today:

Here is the line that I liked the best:

"...said the box will use Microsoft Corp.'s Windows CE operating system."

IMHO this may be HUGE. I'm sure that Microsoft is being very selective in the penetration of Window's CE in set top boxes--and Sigma has an early push into the move into the next generation of set top boxes.
