One of the interesting things about the SI experience is to see how people are alike and different. I have always found Neo particularly interesting in that regard because we are at the same time so alike and so utterly different.

The difference of greatest interest to me is our view of the role of the individual in society. In my view, individuals make choices in the marketplace of ideas and behaviors based on whatever makes sense to them and society is the net result of all those individual choices. Neo's society is by design with individuals conforming to a set of rules (preferably the set of Rules According to Neo, it would seem <g>). We might as well be from different planets in that regard.

I used to subscribe to the command and control approach, but that was a long time ago.
