If twitter can block him, then he can block them.

donsurber.blogspot.com Highlights of the News

Donald John Trump is still our president.

ITEM 1: The Hill reported, "The Trump administration on Thursday asked the Supreme Court to reverse a lower court ruling that found President Trump violated the First Amendment by blocking his critics on Twitter.

"The lawsuit arose in 2017 after Trump’s social media account blocked seven people who had tweeted criticism of the president in comment threads linked to his @realDonaldTrump Twitter handle.

"Lower federal courts found that Trump’s twitter account, where he often weighs in on official matters, constitutes a public forum and that blocking his detractors violated their constitutional free speech protections.

"In its Thursday petition to the Supreme Court, attorneys for the Justice Department (DOJ) urged the justices to overturn a unanimous ruling from a three-judge panel of the New York-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit against Trump."

Liberals: Orange Man must play by the same rules on Twitter that everyone else does.

Also liberals: Orange Man blocked me. I want to speak to the manager!

The Scorekeeper says: the original ruling was EVIL.

ITEM 2: Days after Obama left the White House, Netflix paid him and his wife off with a $65 million sweetheart producer deal for people who had zero Hollywood experience.

The corporate media: Qanon is a wild conspiracy theory that pedophiles occupy the highest levels of American culture & government!

Netflix: actually it's true. t.co

— Emerald Robinson ?? (@EmeraldRobinson) August 20, 2020 If we had a press that actually mattered, it would demand a comment from Obama about this Netflix flick. Instead of a free press, we have Pravda on the Potomac.

Having been caught promoting its show as soft child porn, Netflix disowns the promotion.

We're deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Mignonnes/Cuties. It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film which won an award at Sundance. We’ve now updated the pictures and description.

— Netflix (@netflix) August 20, 2020 Wrong. The correct response is to drop the show. The cost of the money made is too high.

The Scorekeeper says: EVIL.

ITEM 3: Just the News reported, "A Virginia teacher fired for refusing to use the requested pronouns of a transgender-identifying student is taking his school district to court over the dismissal, claiming that U.S. law protects his decision.

"Peter Vlaming was a history and French professor at West Point High School in West Point, Virginia, in 2018 when a female student of his announced a transition to a male identity and requested that her instructors refer to her using male pronouns.

"Vlaming refused to do so, though he claims he initially struck an amicable compromise with the student in question. Yet school leadership eventually told him that he would be required to use male pronouns to refer to the student, in and out of her presence.

"The school finally told him that if he used female pronouns to refer to the student – or even if the district suspected he was using her name to avoid referring to her pronouns altogether – he would be terminated."

We live in a land where telling the truth gets you fired.

The Scorekeeper says: EVIL.

ITEM 4: Fox reported, "Steve Bannon, a former adviser to President Trump and an architect of his 2016 campaign, on Thursday pleaded not guilty in federal court in Manhattan after being indicted with three others in connection with an online fundraising campaign that prosecutors claim defrauded donors of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"Bannon will now be released on a $5 million bond.

"Bannon and three other suspects had been indicted Thursday morning in connection to their online fundraising campaign and charged with defrauding the money from an online campaign."

The New York Post reported, "This is the $28 million yacht Steve Bannon was arrested on." The picture is here.

Obama blocked the prosecution of Felonious Von Pantsuit.

Under President Trump, everyone is equal in the eyes of the law.

The Scorekeeper says: GOOD.

ITEM 5: Fox reported, "China's state-affiliated media are openly rooting for a Joe Biden victory in November, fueling warnings by U.S. intelligence officials of Beijing's plan to interfere in the upcoming election on his behalf.

"But unlike Russian meddling in 2016, a new article published on the website of China's state-run tabloid Global Times that deemed Biden smoother to deal with than President Trump garnered little attention in the U.S., conservative commentator Ben Shapiro observed Thursday."

Wait, this is real election interference.

Our media reports only Fake Conspiracy Theories.

The Scorekeeper says: EVIL.

ITEM 6: United Press International reported, "A prosecutor said Thursday that the state of Michigan is expected to pay $600 million in a preliminary settlement of civil lawsuits over the drinking water crisis that began in Flint, Mich., in 2014.

"The drinking water crisis began in April 2014 when Flint changed its water source from treated Lake Huron and Detroit water to water from the Flint River treated at the Flint Water Treatment Plant. Officials failed to apply corrosion inhibitors in the process leading to aging pipes leaching lead into the water supply, exposing residents to toxic contamination, scientific studies showed."

I want someone to go to prison. But it is government-run, so those responsible will never be held accountable.

Still, it is something. Taxpayers will now pay themselves $600 million from the taxes they pay.

The Scorekeeper says: GOOD.

ITEM 7: The Chicago Tribune reported, "Mayor Lori Lightfoot defended the Chicago Police Department’s ban on protesters being able to demonstrate on the block where she lives, telling reporters Thursday that she and her family at times require heightened security because of threats she receives daily.

"Lightfoot refused to elaborate on the specific threats, but said she receives them daily against herself, her wife, and her home. Comparisons to how the Police Department has protected previous mayors’ homes, such as Rahm Emanuel’s Ravenswood residence, are unfair because 'this is a different time like no other,' Lightfoot told reporters.

"'I think that residents of this city, understanding the nature of the threats that we are receiving on a daily basis, on a daily basis, understand I have a right to make sure that my home is secure,' Lightfoot said."

She indeed has that right.

She also has a duty to protect everyone else's home and business. She needs to start doing that.

The Scorekeeper says: GOOD.

ITEM 8: ESPN reported, "Jim Herman has a plan to keep his PGA Tour career thriving — play more rounds with President Donald Trump.

"Whenever Herman plays golf with the president, soon after he hoists a trophy.

"It happened in 2016 with his breakthrough victory at the Houston Open, again before he won the Barbasol tournament last year — and now before Herman's improbable rally Sunday at Wyndham Championship to make the FedEx Cup playoffs. 'He's been a big supporter of mine,' Herman said about Trump, his regular golf partner while working as an assistant professional at Trump National Bedminster in New Jersey."

Donald Trump was the man who got Herman to leave the pro shop and hit the PGA tour.

Golf reported that in 2006, "Herman was working as an assistant pro at Trump Bedminster in New Jersey when he played one day with course owner and GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, who wanted to know why he was folding shirts instead of competing against the best. Trump encouraged him to give it another shot, and Herman eventually made it out to the PGA Tour."

That's gratitude.

The Scorekeeper says: GOOD.

ITEM 9: Jennifer Hudson sang at the DNC.

In 2008, Today reported, "In the wake of her family tragedy, Jennifer Hudson has received a helping hand from a very unlikely source — Donald Trump.

"Hudson and some of her family members have been staying at the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago, and Trump has been picking up the tab.

"'They are safe,' Trump told People on Monday night. 'She’s a great girl and we’re protecting them well.'

"According to E! Online, Hudson has been staying at the hotel since arriving in Chicago on Oct. 24, the day her mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were found murdered, and her nephew, Julian King, was found missing."

Now, sadly, you know the rest of the story.

The Scorekeeper says: EVIL.

ITEM 10: The Hill reported, "President Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden are statistically tied in Minnesota, according to a new poll.

"The latest survey from the Trafalgar Group finds Biden at 46.9% and Trump at 46.5%. Libertarian Party candidate Jo Jorgensen gets 3.7% support, while 1.7% are undecided and 1.2% said they’d support someone else.

"The Trafalgar Group’s surveys have been showing a tighter race in the battlegrounds than other pollsters have found.

"The outlet weights its polls to account for a social desirability bias, or the so-called shy Trump voters who are embarrassed to tell pollsters they support his candidacy. In 2016, Trafalgar was the only polling outlet to show Trump leading in Michigan heading into Election Day."

37 states.

The Scorekeeper says: GOOD.

ITEM 11: The Detroit News reported, "Recorded ballot counts in 72% of Detroit's absentee voting precincts didn't match the number of ballots cast, spurring officials in Michigan's largest county to ask the state to investigate ahead of a pivotal presidential election.

"Without an explanation from Detroit election workers for the mismatches, the Wayne County Board of Canvassers requested this week for Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson's office to examine the training and processes used in Detroit's Aug. 4 primary, which one official described as a perfect storm of challenges. The board is charged with certifying election results.

"In 46% of all Detroit's precincts — absentee and Election Day — vote counts were out of balance, according to information presented Tuesday to the Wayne County Board of Canvassers. Specifically, the number of ballots tracked in precinct poll books did not match the number of ballots counted.

"The situation could amplify the spotlight on absentee ballots in Michigan ahead of an election, for which record levels of mail-in voting is expected and President Donald Trump is already raising concerns about how votes will be handled."

They have 2 months to fix it.

The Scorekeeper says: GOOD.

ITEM 12: The New York Post reported, "Goodyear Tire Chief Executive Rich Kramer said Thursday the company had clarified its policy to make clear employees can wear apparel expressing support for law enforcement after it faced a boycott call from President Trump.

"The Republican president, who is seeking a second term in office, told reporters Wednesday he would swap out the Goodyear tires on his presidential limousine if there were an alternative.

"Goodyear on Thursday said it had a longstanding policy of asking employees of refraining from working place expressions of support for any political candidates."

President Trump Freedom 1, Goodyear 0.

But my boycott is still on. I will never ride in the Goodyear blimp again!

(I rode once in 1977.)

The Scorekeeper says: GOOD.

ITEM 13: Khaama Press reported, "A group of Taliban sustained casualties as they were busy manufacturing an improvised explosive device, roadside bomb, in a mosque in North of Afghanistan.

"The 209th Shaheen Corps in a statement said the incident took place in a mosque in Chahabar Bolak district of Balkh.

"The statement further added that a group of 8 Taliban IED experts were busy manufacturing a bomb inside a mosque in Sikandar Khel Village.

"The premature explosion caused by IED killed four Taliban militants and wounded at least four others, the 209th Shaheen Corps added in its statement."

IED experts.

Ah, experts.

Where would we be without them.

The Scorekeeper says: GOOD.

ITEM 14: The Associated Press reported, "At least 4,800 chicks shipped to Maine farmers through the U.S. Postal Service have arrived dead in the recent weeks since rapid cuts hit the federal mail carrier's operations, U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree said.

"Pingree, a Maine Democrat, is raising the issue of the dead chicks and the losses farms are facing in a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and U.S. Department of Agriculture Commissioner Sonny Perdue, The Portland Press Herald reported."

Why do people send chicks by mail?

But should they not have been sent to the dead mail office instead?

The Scorekeeper says: EVIL.

ITEM 15: Does anyone want to take a covid 19 vaccine made in Red China?

@RADMBrown, @EPA, @DFCgov, and key representatives from Trump Administration are in Puerto Rico to bring pharmaceutical manufacturing BACK to the US. China FIRED, Puerto Rico HIRED! pic.twitter.com/eIoQ1tD3Yg

— Peter Navarro (@PeterNavarro45) August 20, 2020 Me neither.

The Scorekeeper says: GOOD.

ITEM 16: The New York Times reported (I don't link pay sites), "The Republican Embrace of QAnon Goes Far Beyond Trump."

Reporter: "The crux of the theory is this belief that you are secretly saving the world from this satanic cult of pedophiles and cannibals. Does that sound like something that you are behind?"

President Trump: "I haven't heard that. Is that supposed to be a bad thing?" pic.twitter.com/cDdIWhhW6R

— The Columbia Bugle ???? (@ColumbiaBugle) August 19, 2020 Internet killed the newspaper star.

The Scorekeeper says: GOOD.

ITEM 17: They ask, I answer.

— Don Surber (@donsurber) August 21, 2020 Twitter gets them upside down.

The Scorekeeper says: GOOD.

Final score: GOOD 11, EVIL 6.
