if we shift to policy I trust we will not be subject to a constant affirmation of the faith of the true believers.

I am not as sanguine as you. If we stick to current policy or proposed policy on the table, such as cap and trade or CAFE, I agree. For then we're talking about ordinary energy policy and ordinary environmentalism, not really GW even though GW may be an impetus for the policy.

But if we get into what policy "should" be, what we "should" be doing about GW, then true believers and deniers will engage in much the same non-constructive way, methinks.

But it's worth a try.
