Several of Ammo's friends have dropped out of the BFA Acting program after their sophomore year. One wrote him and said, "I realized that while theatre is fun, I don't really care if I am acting or not. It isn't essential for me and that isn't good enough."

I had somewhat the opposite experience. On graduation from high school I was offered a full time job playing French Horn for a major symphony orchestra. I decided I loved music too much to make it something I had to do day in and day out -- I didn't want to turn a joy into a job. Of course, I was young, and maybe it would have been both a job and a joy, as any job ideally should be, but at that age I wasn't willing to have my art and love turned into day-by-day drudgery. I may also have been affected by the fact that none of my teachers, while all good teachers, seemed happily fulfilled in their careers.
