The Obama administration cancelled fireworks displays at military installations all over the country yesterday, necessitated, they say, because of the ‘sequestration’ cuts.
At Camp Lejeune, in NC, The show would have provided patriotic respite from the work of 47,000 Marines, Naval personnel, and their families.
A Pittsburgh fireworks company stepped in and offered to provide the fireworks show for free, but the administration said, ‘Thanks, but no thanks,’ because ‘the extra costs involved would be prohibitive’.

This president loathes the military even more than Bill Clinton did. He regularly treats our military men with a blatant disrespect that borders on disdain. He is using the military as a pawn in budget negotiations, cutting it in areas that put not only our military personnel’s comfort, but their safety/military readiness as well, at risk. He has fired dozens of lifelong career military officers simply because they expressed disagreement with his community-organizer-based plans for our military. And he continues to place our courageous young people in harm’s way in Afghanistan, even though he knows that, after our ‘scheduled withdrawal’ next year, any young American lives that are lost over there will have been lost in vain as the Taliban eventually takes over.
And yet the golf trips, expensive wardrobes, and extravagant vacations continue unabated.
